J.U.M.P. NATION AT SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY

JUVENILE URBAN MULTICULTURAL PROGRAM's Mission Statement

J.U.M.P. Nation's mission is to decrease the high school dropout rate while increasing enrollment into institutions of higher education by creating a bridge for Syracuse University Students into the Syracuse Community.
To accomplish this mission, each college semester (fall and spring semester) a group of eighth grade students from various junior high schools throughout Syracuse, New York are selected to participate in our Bi-Annual "JUMPstart to College Leadership Summit" on the Syracuse University Campus. This is an entire Saturday event where the proteges, as we call them, are brought to campus for an all expense paid day full of forums and interactive workshops.

We pair the proteges with mentors to form a network of support and encouragement that we hope will help them overcome obstacles throughout their high school careers, while simultaneously introducing them to an environment of higher education.

J.U.M.P. Nation at SU gives each student the tools necessary to overcome socio-economic issues like drugs, violence, and domestic abuse; along with other problems that might hinder these students on their journey to achieving higher education.
